 Welcome

Our After School Club (ASC) was first established in 2002. We give priority to children from Whaley Bridge Primary School but welcome children from other schools locally.

We are registered for a maximum of 30 children. Registration will need to be completed on-line here. A user guide can be found here and also below under 'Payment'. We offer a range of care to suit the needs of parents and children.

Pre-bookable late collection 5:15pm up until 6pm is an additional £5.50.

Children using the club for the first time will be met by ASC staff as the children wait in their school lines. Further details regarding collection from school can be found on the parent information leaflet. The staff members have a uniform to ensure that ASC staff are easily identified when working within the school.

During their stay at the club we want the children to enjoy themselves. There are a variety of activities available each night including arts and crafts, soft play, construction toys, pool and table football, computer games, board games, sports sessions and creative play, or if they wish, a quiet corner where they may read or finish their homework.

Lone Working Policy

At Whaley Bridge After School Club, the safety and welfare of our staff and the children in our care is paramount. It is best practice for at least two members of staff to be on duty at any one time, but situations may arise where this is not possible. When it is necessary for only one member of staff to be on duty, we will follow the procedures set out our lone working policy. See for further information: Lone Working Policy 202010

All instances of lone working will be agreed in advance and such instances will be recorded on the staff timesheet

A full risk assessment for lone working has been carried out before lone working was approved.

There will always be another person on-site who can be summoned in case of emergencies – this will be a member of school staff from Whaley Bridge Primary School. It will be prearranged with the on-site person that they will be the ‘on-call’ individual that the staff member can summon in an emergency. In addition, members of the Voluntary Management Committee (VMC) will be called when needed to act as additional ‘on-call’ individuals. The contact numbers for the VMC are held within the ASC staff records as well as displayed on the notice board.

About Us

Whaley Bridge After School Club is a not-for-profit organisation managed by a voluntary committee of parents and staff. It is not run or owned by the school and sessions are organised by the ASC manager.

All staff are fully checked, trained and have the necessary qualifications.

In accordance with OFSTED’s national standards we have a range of comprehensive policies such as child protection, special needs, behaviour and equal opportunities.

The Club is periodically inspected under OFSTED regulations. Our latest report in December 2016 labelled our care as “good” with only two minor administrative points preventing an “outstanding” (these have now been rectified).  The report can be read here: http://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/CARE/EY224439

We are always looking for new people to join the committee so please get in touch if you would like to help. This requires a very small amount of time each year but is essential for the management of the club.  We can’t do this without you.
