Healthy Lifestyles

A healthy lifestyle from a young age encourages healthy living later in life. At WBPS we encourage healthy lifestyles by promoting active playtimes and through our commitment to healthy snacks.

Healthy Foods

Derbyshire county Council have lots of healthy food ideas and other wellbeing hints and tips on their website here - Derbyshire - Health and Wellbeing

Here are a couple of examples of how to make healthy food swaps, and also a Five a Day tip sheet.

Healthy Snacks

It is our expectation that children bring snacks to school which are low in saturated fat, salt and refined sugar. There are many healthier options to choose from such as:

  • Fruit
  • Vegetable sticks
  • Dried Fruit
  • Breadsticks
  • Crackers with butter or cream cheese
  • Rice Cakes
  • Home made pop-corn (without added salt or sugar)

Snacks may be brought in a reusable pot which should be named.

Children are also encouraged to drink water throughout the day.
