Whaley Bridge ER Primary School

School Uniform

School Uniform

School Uniform

Our school colours are: navy blue, grey, and white, making the uniform easy and inexpensive to purchase, with lots of choice of manufacturers. Shoes must be plain black and sensible, no trainers or heels.

Sweatshirts, cardigans and polo shirts with the school crest embroidered on the front are available on-line from myclothing.com or Headmasters in New Mills.

In the summer term, blue gingham dresses may be worn.

If your child has sensory, medical or other needs which make our uniform harder to wear please contact us for advice.

Bookbags are an essential part of our reading routine especially in key stage 1 and all children are encouraged to use these rather than large backpacks.

Backpacks and Bookbags featuring the school logo can also be purchased from Headmasters, New Mills.

PE Kit

Children come to school wearing their PE kit on the days that they have PE in school

Our school PE kit is a white plain t-shirt with navy blue shorts and black trainers. Plain navy blue tracksuit bottoms and hooded tops may be worn for outside activities or in cooler weather.

Children in year 1 and above may wear the older style Whaley Bridge polo shirts (in white, light blue or navy) for PE until September 2023 for PE as part of our phased transition to the new style uniform.

Jewellery and other accessories

If earrings are worn to school, they must be plain studs only, they must be removed or covered for PE.

Nail varnish or temporary tattoos should not be worn in school.

All pupils with long hair should tie this back.  Headbands, clips and bobbles should adhere to school colours: navy blue, grey and white.

Support with the purchase of uniforms

Our uniform has been chosen in order to keep the costs of purchase as low as possible and we recognise that some families may need support to purchase items. Please do not be shy in asking for support if needed - any communication of this sort will be treated in the strictest confidence.

As below, our PTA can help with second hand uniform, and a local charity, Little Cherubs can also offer assistance with accessing uniform.

Making our uniform more sustainable

The manufacture of hardwearing school uniform is not always well aligned with eco-friendly clothing production, and are working with our suppliers to find alternative options. If you wish to have our logo embroidered on more sustainably produced clothing (in keeping with our uniform policy) from a manufacturer of your choice please contact us and we will support with the supply of the logo.

We have a thriving second-hand system for uniform supported by the PTA. If you have good quality uniform to donate to others please let us know.
