Whaley Bridge ER Primary School

Welcome to Whaley Bridge Primary School

Whaley Bridge Primary School opened in 1911 and has been the bedrock of the community ever since. I have recently joined the school as Headteacher and am proud to play a part in continuing that legacy.

As a school we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and inclusive community, and our school motto “ for every child a chance to shine”  is exemplified both in our high academic expectations and our dedicated and nurturing personal support for all our pupils.

We are fortunate to have wonderful grounds which are surrounded by  gardens and trees which provide a haven for wildlife, and the perfect environment for our pupils to explore and develop a love of nature.

We aim to lay the foundations for life long learning, so children can become successful young adults who embrace the challenges ahead. We are here to inspire, nurture and encourage children to be the best they can be.

Our curriculum is organised into exciting and relevant cross-curricular topics. Teachers plan inspiring ignition days at the start of each topic to provide inspiration for the learning. The curriculum is mapped into topic plans which you can find on the class pages of the website. We teach dedicated English and Maths lessons each day throughout the school, as well as daily phonics teaching throughout  Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.

At Whaley Bridge we aim to work  in partnership with families to ensure the best outcomes for every child. We welcome communication with parents, and encourage families to take an active role both in their child’s learning and the wider life of the school. We offer “enhanced provision” placements for pupils who have complex needs and have an EHCP which details that they need a more specialist placement.

Learners in this group benefit from bespoke and personalised teaching within a dedicated base, as well as supported opportunities to access learning alongside their mainstream peers. If you would like to find out more, please visit the SEND section on the website or contact our SENCo, Mrs Mahon.

If you are visiting our website with a view to your child joining us please do get in touch. We welcome visits on open days and by individual appointment, and would encourage you to contact us to find out more.

With warmest  wishes
